Sunday night was the NAMB Awards Banquet, with a crowd of 125 attendees to listen and watch our annual awards presentation. The Affiliate of the Year award went to The National Mortgage Professional Magazine for all of their involvement in getting the message out to the masses. The Kathy Love Volunteer of the Year Award went to Valerie Saunders. Valerie has been involved in rewriting the By-Laws as Chair of the NAMB By Laws Committee followed by assuming Chair of NAMB Government Affairs Committee and working very closely with the NAMB Legislative Action Fund. All this while she still is heavily involved in her state of Florida association - FAMP. The dinner ended with the presenting of the big award of the night, Mortgage Professional of the Year went to John G. Steven of Utah. John is always working to improve his state by being involved in numerous state committees and working for his state originators to make it better for all of them.
President John Councilman also handed out a Presidential Award to Valerie Saunders for all of her efforts in helping him and working closely with him during his term in office. Jim Pair was awarded the Distinguished Service Award for his continued efforts in helping re-write the Policies and Procedures for NAMB.
Lastly, about the Conference. Continued education was being taught by David Luna from Mortgage Educators Compliance. This is a great class of education that ends up being more than just a class. It is a true life educational experience. David brings his life experiences into the fold and makes this day of education fun. Not only do you get the information that the NMLS requires you to, but it is a totally interactive experience with everyone getting involved. This is a must take class by all.
